Special Olympics North Devon welcomed teams from across the UK to Barnstaple on Sunday for a the club’s first large-scale table tennis competition.
Teams from Yorkshire, the West Midlands, Cheshire and Bournemouth were among those taking part in the competition, which saw some very competitive table tennis and some outstanding play.
The club was visited by Special Olympics Great Britain founder Chris Maloney, and Mayor of Barnstaple Ian Roome and Atlas Packaging’s Jason Sharman were on hand to present the well-earned medals.
The athletes from North Devon came away with plenty of medals, winning four gold, five silver and five bronze, as well as one fourth placed finish.
George Heanue was awarded the male player of the competition.
