Simon's starry start in angling league

A SPECIMEN starry smoothound of 12lb 12 � ounces gave Simon Silvester of Barnstaple Rod n Reelers B team top spot in his first ever foray into the North Devon Angling League. Second and third places went to more smoothies with Combe Martin s Dave Broo

A SPECIMEN starry smoothound of 12lb 12 1/4 ounces gave Simon Silvester of Barnstaple Rod 'n' Reelers B team top spot in his first ever foray into the North Devon Angling League.

Second and third places went to more "smoothies" with Combe Martin's Dave Brooks landing a fish of 10lb 5 oz and Steve Luxton of Barnstaple Triple Hook another of 7lb 7 3/4oz.

Wrasse dominated in Bideford Angling Club's June sea roving competition, with first place going to Jazzer Johns for his fish of 3lb 3 1/2 oz while Martin Short was second with one of 2lb 13 1/2.

Dogfish staged a comeback in the club's midweek rover, with Martin first this time with one of 2lb 3oz, Jazzer second with 1lb 12oz and Tony Gooch third with 1lb 11 1/2oz.
