BIDEFORD Cricket Club wicketkeeper/batsman Matt Allin completed a remarkable year on Sunday in which he has broken two club records.

In the club's final 2010 fixture against visiting Bridgetown he scored 24 in a seven wicket win to finish the season with a record 2,169 runs at an average of nearly 50 per innings.

Matt, 31, is only the second Bideford player to record more than 2,000 in a season, beating the previous best of 2,083 by Steve Elworthy eight years ago.

He played in 56 matches, batted 53 times and scored five centuries, with a highest of 124 not out, and 14 other scores of 50 or more.

Matt had already this summer set a new mark as the club's highest all time run scorer when he passed the 12,545 runs scored by Andy Davies between 1958 and 2006.

Bideford Cricket Club archives show that since 1993 Matt has had 401 innings for Bideford and scored 13,283 runs, including 20 centuries.
