FOURTEEN North Devon Scouts returned from Bisley after successfully competing in the National Air Rifle Championships. The North Devon District Scout team beat Cheshire in a tight battle to become the National Scout Three Positional Air Rifle champions.
FOURTEEN North Devon Scouts returned from Bisley after successfully competing in the National Air Rifle Championships. The North Devon District Scout team beat Cheshire in a tight battle to become the National Scout Three Positional Air Rifle champions.The team consisting of Kirstie Attwood, Luke Smith and Craig Attwood won the title and set a national record in the process.Another scout to impress was Dean Bale from the First North Devon. Bale finished first in the under 12 Junior National Air-rifle event. The National 10 Sporter title went to Luke Smith of Taw Explorers. Smith narrowly beat Kirstie Attwood from Network to finish first. However, Kirstie made up for her disappointment winning the senior six yard title. Terry Luxton was the runner-up. The scouts, all aged between 11 and 18 were from the Taw Explorers, First North Devon, First Ilfracombe, 50th North Devon and First Tawstock groups. County placesBraunton Shooting Club juniors Kirstie-Anne Attwood, Kevin Luxton and Craig Attwood have all been selected to shoot for the Devon junior squad at the National Junior Inter-County Rifle Winter League competition.Their selection was based on good performances at the county championships in September.County air rifle champion Kirstie- Anne and her brother Craig have also been chosen for the Devon senior squad in the National Inter-County Air Rifle Winter League.Braunton beat Budleigh Salterton B 474-459 in Devon Rifle League Division 4 and lead the division on overall score from Manaton A.In the Devon 20yd Pistol League Division 2, Braunton beat Paignton B 510 -472 and also lead their division on overall score, ahead of Okehampton B.But they lost 532-541 to Broadclyst A in the county Lightweight Sporting Rifle League Division 2 and now lie in fifth place.www.northdevon.gov.uk
