More than 1,000 people took part in Bideford half-marathon on Sunday. Conditions were near-perfect for the competitors, who ran from Bideford to Torrington before coming back along the Tarka Trail. Exmouth Harrier Berihu Hadera was first to cross the line with a time of 1hr 7mins 35secs. In second was Bideford Amateur Athletic Clubs Ronnie Richmond, who came in at 1hr 09mins 10secs. Jim Cole of Tavistock Athletic Club finished third with a time of 1hr 12mins 21secs. Zelah Morrall was the first lady to cross the finish line. The Cornwall Athletic Club runner finished in 1hr 21mins 24secs. She was closely followed by Tiverton Harrier Serane Stone, who came in at 1hr 21mins 28secs. Catherine Newman of Exmouth Harriers came third with a time of 1hr 25mins 7secs.
