ROSS Prior and Ann Travis carried the banner for Bideford Rifle Club in the Devon County Winter League competition.Ross has taken the junior title and Ann finished second in the women's.Despite two wins out of three in their final round matches Bideford had to be content with fourth place for the A team, fourth for the C team and seventh for the B team.Bideford A beat Yealmpton 591-486 in their final match. The B team beat Plympton 486-475 with the aid of a maximum 100 from Mog Thomson, but the C team lost 47-480 to Exeter School despite a 99 score from Lorne Hamilton.Bideford teams stuttered in the penultimate round of the North Devon League.The A team lost 388-393 to Okehampton A, the B team were held to a 384-384 draw by Sidbury B and the C team, with one card unshot, were defeated by Pinhoe C.Martin Morgan is still on track to win the overall championship, but now has only a single point lead going into the final round.Ann Travis is assured of the women's title and is currently second in the veterans' class.Closing out the National Short range League is also proving hard for the Bideford teams.The A team recorded a win and a defeat in their last two matches, while Bideford B are struggling to maintain the lead in their section after a draw and a defeat.Bideford A 486, Torfaen 493; Bideford A 484 (A Travis 100), Bedford B 482; Bideford B 465, Cumberland News 472; Bideford B 464, Wateringbury and Teston 464.
