NORTH Devon Road Runners were well represented at the Wellington Ten road races. There were two races - a 10K and a 10-mile. Both courses were extremely undulating and the warm weather did not help the competitors. In the 10K race Michael Osment-Fish completed the course in 46.38 to finish 52nd overall and Lucinda Meynell was not far behind, finishing 61st in 48.40. The 10-mile event saw John Shapland finish 11th overall and 1st Vet50 in a time of 61.18. Brian Lessiter was 73rd in 74.04; Alan Nicol 96th, 76.36; Pat Gould 113th, 79.38; Barbara Nicol 124th, 1.21.10; Jan Gould 168th, 1.27.30; and Mike Davey 177th, 1.29.37. This was the eighth race in the Somerset Series and following a fourth place overall and 1st V50 in 37.42 at the Quantock Beast 5.7mile multi-terrain race, John Shapland stays in fourth place overall in the series, despite missing one race.
