A MIXED bag of fish was shared out in three competitions at the weekend, including the penultimate North Devon League heat.Barnstaple Rod 'n' Reelers held the first weigh in on Sunday, with Toby Snell taking first with a dogfish of 1250 grams (2lb 12 ounces) and 91.9%. A spurdog of 3330g (7lb 4 1/2 oz) gave Steve Luxton second with 91% and Tony Werner was third with a 90.4% dogfish.Around the corner at the Triple Hook weigh-in Dave Shapland took first with a 100% rockling of 1lb 8oz, with Steve Luxton again able to scoop second with his spurdog.Rockling really came through for the Rod 'n' Reelers at the subsequent North Devon League weigh-in, Andy Joslin took first for his team with one of 1lb 9oz (104%) and Dave Shapland's 1lb 8oz fish took second. Third went to Rob Pearson of Combe Martin with a near-specimen dogfish of 2lb 13oz.This leaves Rod 'n' Reelers on top of the league with 54pts, five clear of Triple Hook A on 49, who will need maximum points and all three places in the final heat to win. But this is a feat they pulled off last year, so no one is counting them out just yet.The rest of the league reads : Triple Hook B 46; Combe Martin A 42; CMB and Bideford A 37 and Appledore 34.The final heat is on April 26, with Combe Martin hosting the weigh in on Sunday 27 at 7.30pm in Braunton Cricket Club.
