Top seed Kristyna Pliskova won the Aegon GB Pro-Series Barnstaple singles title in impressive style.

The 23-year-old Czech, twin sister of world number 12 Karolina, took the title without dropping a single set throughout the tournament.

Pliskova captured the opening set 6-3 in Saturday’s final against Nina Zander at the Tarka Tennis Centre.

But the unseeded German, who was playing for her first title at $25k level, bounced back early in the second.

A break and a hold of serve gave Zander a 2-0 lead, and a clear swing in momentum, but clever play and heavy serving soon re-established Pliskova’s command of the match. She won six straight games for a 6-3, 6-2 victory..

Ahead of the singles final, the crowd were treated to a highly entertaining doubles final which saw third seeds Stephanie Foretz and Ana Vrljic win their first title together with a 6-2, 5-7 [10-7] victory over fourth seeds Naomi Broady and Ekaterina Bychkova.
