More than 200 cyclists took part in the Two Moors 100 charity cycle sportive on Sunday. The event, run by the Bideford Bridge Rotary Club, is dubbed the West Countrys friendliest sportive and although not technically a race, attracted individual and club riders from all over the South West and as far as Scotland and Germany. Cyclists could chose to compete either a 100-mile or 60-mile loop from Bideford Rugby Club to Exmoor and Dartmoor, via Okehampton, Winkleigh, South Molton, and Barnstaple. Glenn Downs from Winkleigh completed the 100-mile course in 6 hrs 6 mins and 18 secs; followed by Simon de Burgh from Edinburgh, riding for Tri Force, in 6:04:02; and Martin Pearce from Okehampton Cycling Club and Karen Pearce from Gresham, both of whom finished in 6:08:14. Tom Metherell, of Holsworthy Peloton completed the 60-mile course in 3:31.05. He was followed by Andrew Timothy from Bideford in 3:32.43 and Jon (surname unknown), from Barnstaple in 3:32:59. Other participants included grandfather David Barker, aged 63, and grandson Samuel Barker-Moore aged 13, from Honiton, who completed the 60-mile course in 8hr 21m.
