Pembrokeshires John Collier was the overall winner, completing the triathlon in 1hr, 5mins and 20secs. Ian Wright finished second with a time of 1hr, 6mins and 46secs, and Bideford AACs Dan Mapp took third place, crossing the line just five seconds after Wright. Wrights cycle was pivotal in the victory. Coming out of the water 21st, he went around the 23km cycle in 39 minutes and 15 seconds more than a minute faster than anyone else before consolidating the victory with the second-fastest run. Third-place Mapp stormed the run, completing the 5km in 17 minutes and seven seconds. Had the run been any longer, he may well have moved further up the podium. Victoria Loze was the fastest solo female, finishing in 1hr, 18 mins, followed by Zoe Betteridge in the 40+ category, finishing in 1hr, 20 mins, 23 secs. The third fastest female was Amy Alford, who completed the course in 1hr, 25mins and 55secs. Tom Matthew was the fastest junior competitor, finishing at 1hr, 13 mins, 13 secs. The fastest over 40 was James Miller, who placed fourth overall with a time of 1hr, 7mins and 35secs. The over 50 title went to Simon Cartwright, with a time of 1hr, 15mins and 29secs. The event was organised by Bideford Bridge Rotary Club and North Devon Triathletes. Competitors started off with a 600m open water swim in the River Torridge, before embarking on a 23km cycle. The ride took them out to Torrington via Weare Gifford, before returning to Bideford via Monkleigh and Landcross. The 5km run went out to the Tarka Trail before competitors turned around and headed for the line. The full race results can be found here.
