The show went on at Torrington Terror Triathlon despite wind and rain halting cycling section.

The cycling section of the Torrington Terror Triathlon had to be cancelled on Sunday due to heavy rain and strong gusts of wind.

But it didn’t stop 64 athletes powering through - with Great Britain Athlete James Anderson, of Team Buff UK, taking the lead.

Anderson, from Tavistock, finished overall first in 21 minutes and 27 seconds - almost a minute ahead of his closest rival James Haigh, who came second for the men overall and also won the men’s 30-39 year-old category in 22 minutes and 15 seconds.

Cara Deasy, from North Devon Tri, was the fastest female, completing the 4.5km run and 400m swim in 26 minutes and eight seconds.

Second in the women’s category was Laura Wallis, with 28 minutes and four seconds, followed by Sue Walker in third with 28 minutes and nine seconds.

Matthew Luxton finished third in the men’s overall with 23 minutes and five seconds.

The swim element of the Terror took place in Torrington Swimming Pool.
