It was the first time the school had reached a national final in cross country, earning their spot after being crowned South West champions in Somerset on November 10. The team of year eight students Will Pengelly, Finn Phillips, Kyle Pearson, Caleb Pirie, Ben Smith and year seven Max Standen raced against pupils from 26 other schools, including independent and grammar schools, over a 3.2km course. The Park boys finished the day in 11th spot, but were the highest finishing state school in the competition. PE teacher Al Blanchard said: The School is very proud of the team for participating in the schools first national final in cross country and the boys outstanding effort. We look forward to watching the boys mature into very capable athletes. Another big thank you must go to parents for consistent support and travelling with the boys to the venue.
