KIRSTY Hamilton from Northam was one of two young South West athletes to take up an opportunity to visit the London 2012 Olympic Park.

Kirsty, who specialises in the 1,500 metres, and Katie Knowles from Truro are both members of Bristol & West Athletics Club and part of the Aviva-sponsored Dame Kelly Holmes mentoring and education initiative On Camp with Kelly.

Lord Sebastian Coe, chairman of the London organising committee of the Olympic Games and Paralympic Games, led a tour of the Olympic Stadium, the venue at which the athletes aspire to compete in two years time.

The On Camp with Kelly athletes were taken on a bus tour of the Olympic Park, taking in venues such as the Velodrome, Athletes' Village and Aquatics Centre as well as the Stadium tour with Seb Coe.

Kirsty said: "Visiting the Olympic Park today has been a fantastic opportunity to be really inspired by how big and important London 2012 will be. I've been really inspired to train really hard to be involved in the buzz leading up to the games. Without the support of Kelly Holmes and the Aviva On Camp with Kelly initiative I would not have been able to visit this site before the games.
