THE weekend's fishing competitions might have been running as normal despite the weather - but it appeared no-one had told the fish!Barnstaple Rod 'n' Reelers mostly all struggled to find even moderate fish, as even the humble dogfish seemed few, far between and disinterested in feeding. However, dogfish dominated, Tony Gussin taking first place with a bonus dog of 2lb 8 ounces (84.8%,) followed into second place by Darren Short's fish of 2lb 0 3/4 oz. Dave Shapland was third with another of 1lb 15 1/2 oz.The placings were replicated at the following North Devon League weigh in, with Rod 'n' Reelers taking the first two spots and Bideford's Damian Babb third with a whiting, while no other fish were brought to the scales. The next North Devon League heat is the weekend of March 28/29 hosted by Combe Martin AC at Braunton Cricket Club.
