THE clash between top and bottom in Division 1 of the North Devon Table Tennis League saw Adjudicators beat Castle Knights without reply, but some matches were closer than expected.

Smugglers are clawing their way back up towards the top, this week at the expense of Holsworthy A.

The return of Michael Sussex to the Artics line-up saw them finally got their first win of the season.

Division 2 leaders Rowdies were pushed all the way by Holsworthy B before running out 6-4 winners, but both their top players lost their 100% records.

Hopefuls scored their first win this year thanks to Alan Cheung's triple and a fine win by Ben Morris over high flying Tim Strand of Monks.

Cruisers kept up their challenge at the top, despite an excellent individual performance by Sweenies' Alan Briggs, who beat them all.
