NORTH Devon surf lifesaving teams again dominated the National Nipper Stillwater Championships held at Millfield over the weekend with Saunton and Woolacombe teams taking the two titles.Woolacombe's eight-year hold on the Nippers title was ended by a resurgent Saunton Sands in a close finish between the leading three teams.Results were: 1,Saunton Sands 2035; 2,Portreath 1790; 3,Woolacombe 1527; 4,Hayle 1202; 5,Croyde 943; 6,Bideford Bay;7, St Ives; 8, Holliwell Bay; 9, Polzeath; 10,Leeds.The two North Devon teams were also neck and neck in the Junior event the following day, but this time Woolacombe held off the Saunton challenge to retain their title for the fourth year in a row. Results: 1,Woolacombe 2020; 2, Saunton 1927; 3, Porthreath 825; 4, Blyth 802; 5, Rhoose 720; 6,Heanor 544; 6, Hayle 455; 7, St Ives 325; 8, Rascals 254. Saunton Sands' Scott Stitt won all but one individual event in the 19 age group and even in this was a close second to team-mate Alex Bunney.
