NORTH Devon are down in the Premier Division bottom two following a hefty six-wicket defeat by Bovey Tracey.

The Instow outfit opted to bat first and were bowled out for 164 in the last of their 50 overs.

Only Dan Bowser (33) in the top half of the order made any headway as Peter Bradley (4-27) and Neil Hancock (2-20) got stuck in. Mark Westaway went in at 70-7 and staved off total collapse with a battling 43. After Matt Dart went straight away, last man Paul Heard (32no) put on 94 for the final wicket before Westaway was bowled by spinner Charlie Hill (2-28).

Bovey had the runs knocked off inside 39 overs, led from the front by skipper and man of the match Bradley with 61. Andy Fairbairn and Hancock went cheaply, but Matt Golding (29no) and Sam Wyatt-Haines (13no) saw it through.

It doesn’t get any easier for North Devon as they are away to leaders Sidmouth this Saturday.

l BRAUNTON’S game at Plymstock went down to the wire before the home side clinched a six-run win.

There were two tons – one each for Plymstock’s James Nicholls and Braunton’s Tom Mitcham – which led to a thrilling conclusion.

Braunton wouldn’t stop chasing a target of 232 and got down to the last over from Plymstock captain Seb Jordan needing 17 to win. Jordan kept Braunton to 10 to give Plymstock their first league win since the opening day of the season.

It was Nicholls’ first ton for Plymstock. Along the way there were stands of 53 with Mark Abbott (34) and 48 with Dan Robotham (20).

In a real see-saw game it seemed Plymstock were on top after reducing bottom side Braunton to 100-5 – Abbott (3-33) doing the damage and Mark Orchard pinning them down Then Mitcham (101no) and Alex Hodges (36) got going and it was game on.

Braunton host Sandford this Saturday.

l BARNSTAPLE and Pilton slipped to a 114-run defeat when they visited Thorverton.

Paul Fielder hit a top score of 60 as Thors made 222-9 in their 45 overs.

Fielder was third out on 116, having already seen Nick Barton (21) back into the hutch. Graham White (33) and Gillam Crouch (23) kept the runs coming. Pick of the bowling for B&P with 4-32 was Jack Popham.

There were three wickets each for Will Denford and Luke Boyadijian as B&P were skittled out for 108 in reply.

Barnstaple went from 30-0 to 40-3 and kept slithering to 86-6 on their way to 108 all out. Only George McEndoo (38) survived long.

Shobrooke Park are B&P’s guests this Saturday.

l BIDEFORD sent Kingsbridge spinning to a nine-wicket defeat in the top-of-the-table clash at Westward Ho!.

Kingsbridge were all out for 192 with an over to go – Ashley Treeby (37) just pipping James Fletcher (36) for top scorer. Paul Shepherd (3-53) removed Fletcher and Angus Watson (24) mid-innings as Kingsbridge slowed from 93-2 to 109-5. Fred King (2-28) and brother Josh (2-30) kept it tight.

Bideford openers James Ford (42) and Matt Allin (78no) got the first 105 runs needed, then Jordi Gilmour (32no) joined Allin to take care of the rest.

Bideford now have joint billing at the top of the table with Axminster. They go to Dartington & Totnes this Saturday.

l FILLEIGH beat Seaton by 21 runs to send the Court Lane outfit to their first league defeat of the season.

Rob Collier (77) and Ryan Bowden (23) had the main scores as Filleigh totted up 222-8.

Seaton were all out for 201 in response with Ed Hunt their top score on 45.

James Hill (3-58) and Jon Hickman (3-31) were the bowling heroes for Filleigh, who are away to Feniton this Saturday.
