North Devons netballers were back in action in the South West Regional League One this weekend. Both Titans and Carol Anne Diamonds played their first fixtures of the new season, with mixed results. After winning only one game last season, Diamonds got off to the best possible start with a 45-42 victory over Galmington. After a slow start, Diamonds started getting Laura Short and Rebecca Watson in the game to take 15-10 lead at the first quarter. Galmington clawed back to make the game even at half time, but some tactical changes gave Diamonds the upper hand in the second half, edging a game that could have gone either way. For Titans, they were consigned to a 50-31 loss to Team Bath. A slow start hampered them, and after struggling to link through the court, they found themselves down 16-9 at the first quarter. Despite some tireless work in defence from Beth Nancekivell, Bath were able to extend their lead to 31-15 at half time. It was a gap that Titans struggled to reduce in the second half, despite plenty of fight, and by the end of the third they trailed 42-21. They were able to reduce the deficit in the final quarter.
