Zipo Zondo, who went in at six for one, top scored for Hatherleigh with 57 in a total of 106 all out. Opener Niall Leahy made 22 he and Zondo put on 60 for the second wicket which meant there wasnt much from the rest. Zondo was seventh out at 98 the fourth of five scalps for North Devon spinner Steffan James (5-18). The last six wickets went for 26 runs, which wont have impressed skipper Mark Lake. North Devon opener Tom Ansell did not last long two balls precisely but once Dan Bowser and Ben Howe got going there was no stopping the chase. Bowser (46) and Howe (33no) took the tally to 73, which left Adrian Isherwood (26no) to tie up the loose ends as North Devon won by eight wickets with 33 overs to spare. Jubilant North Devon captain Matt Westaway said: It was a solid effort from the bowlers as everyone put the ball in the right areas and we gave them very little opportunity to score. Steffan James deserved his five-wicket haul as he showed excellent control with his attacking, left-arm spin. The batsmen set about chasing the target positively, which gave us a very convincing win. Disappointed Hatherleigh captain Mark Lake felt his side never turned up. Lake added: I thought North Devon bowled really well and never gave us a thing. We never got going with the bat. It was a day to forget. Hatherleigh go to leaders Heathcoat this Saturday, while North Devon make the long trek to Exmouth.
