NORTH Devon girls under-15s clinched the county district championship with a three-wicket win over West Devon at Instow. West won the toss and started well, seeing off the opening new ball attack. Millie Squire's accurate seam claimed the first wicket at 39 and she went on to finish with 2 -14 . Young Lauren Bowden followed up the good work with two more wickets and Catherine Mitcham also finished with a brace. Anna Gower (22) and Kait O'Keefe (23) were the only West batters to hold out resistance and the innings closed on 120. The North started positively with a 32-run stand in less than four overs by Emily Ward and Anna Cherrington. Ward (14) was first to go and 22 more runs were added for the third wicket before Cherrington was bowled for 17. The score was rattling along at more than seven an over before young Jessie Jones hit a dynamic spell for the West, with more wickets falling at 76, 83 and 89 bringing a West victory possible. But Claire Reynolds (21 no) steadied the ship and with Bea Auty (8no) took the North to victory.
