NORTH DEVON picked up four points more than every other team bar one in the Premier Division on another soggy Saturday in the Premier Division.The game between Exmouth and North Devon on the Maer Ground was the only Premier game to start - and one of just three out of 74 to get under way in the entire competition.Barnstaple, Bideford, Braunton and Hatherleigh were all washed off without starting.Four bowling bonus points for keeping Exmouth to 175 for nine in 31 overs before the rains came in, kept North Devon comfortably clear of the drop zone. Exmouth got four batting points as well, which lifted them away from the bottom of the table.Opener Stuart Rintoul's scoring touch returned for Exmouth with 38, which was a key factor in earning some bonus points.James Burke and Ed Yeo, the former Bruanton and Barnstaple player, went in successive balls to North Devon captain Matt Westaway.Exmouth skipper Richard Baggs saw off the hat-trick ball then embarked on a stand of 93 with Rintoul that got the score up to 109 for three.Rintoul, who was in for 59 balls and only hit three boundaries, departed caught on the straight boundary having a crash at spinner Matt Dart.Baggs, who top scored on 68, clattered six fours and a six off Rob Gear, who got his revenge by bowling the Exmouth captain when he played one big shot too many.Phil Holland (15), Andy Buzza (10) and Rob Debenham inched Exmouth past 150 and a third bonus point then got down to the final over from Gear needing 16 for another.Debenham smashed two huge sixes to make a big hole in the target, then scampered two runs with Tom Booker before being run out.Booker and Carson Lederle scrambled two off the final ball to earn that extra point.North Devon are at home to Sandford this Saturday.
