It has been a busy weekend at Stafford Moor Fishery, topped by an excellent 28 pound carp caught by Ben Cleaver.
Mark Brett fished on the summerhouse swim for 36 hours and weighed in carp of 20lb 2oz and 22lb 4oz.
Meanwhile Jake England had a fantastic time at Beatties lake on a day ticket, landing countless fish he had so many fish, topped by his biggest at 21lb 9oz.
Sunday’s open match on tanners and Woodpeckers lakes saw Steve Ford take first on peg 35 with a weight of 162lb 15oz, caught on 8mm lead and waggler. Second was Lee Marlow on 91lb 12 and third Trevor Houghton on 80lb 7oz.
At Blakewell there has been another good week of fly fishing, with fish really starting to liven up as the waters cool.
Two anglers have been broken recently by very big fish, with the advice to up leader strength to at least 6lb.
Some of the bigger browns and rainbows have been in excess of 15lb and are hitting the flies ferociously.
A 15lb rainbow fell to Mr Stock from Farnham while Mr Bond from Holsworthy took a bag of 10 fish which included a 6lb brown.
Favourite flies continue to be the daddy longlegs and black and peacock spider.
On the sea scene, the September North Devon League heat was won by the still in-form Taz Wotton, who landed a conger eel of 19lb 1 to beat Graham Snow’s mullet of 3lb 11.
Lee Watts was third with a rockling of 1lb 1 ¾.
The same fish took the top three places in the Bideford 24 hour rover.
The next league heat is on the weekend of October 10-11, with the weigh in at Rolle Quay in Barnstaple.
The November heat is on 7-8 with the weigh in at Appledore.
