A well-supported charity match at Stafford Moor Fishery has raised £1,715 for two deserving causes. Organised by Neilsen Jeffery of North Devon Match Group, the pairs competition saw proceeds equally divided between Appledore RNLI and Childrens Holiday Foundation South West. The winning pair on the day was Kevin Shears and Peter Seaward, who produced a combined weight of 172lb 11oz, mostly of carp. Second were Kevin Wilton and Dion Martin, with Norman Martin and Richard Harman in third. Neilsen would like to thank Stafford Moor, Summerlands, Martin Cox Angling Supplies, Gary Stanbury of Torridge Marine, Drennan, Preston, Shimano and Masterline for donating prizes. On Sunday at the Moor, the Woodpecker lake had woken up, with fish hungry after spawning. The open match of the day saw Martin Heard take first with 245lb 11oz in weight from peg 28, fishing an 8mm pellet waggler. Second was Tom Mangnall with 175lb 13oz and third Zac Newton with 170lb 1oz. Freddie Loosemore had a good carp at the Moor on Beatties with a 24lb 12oz mirror.
