Bidefords monthly sea rover saw Taz Wotton take first place with a good flounder of 2lb 5 ½ ounces. A varied weigh-in saw Nick Jobs take second with a bass of 6lb 7 ¾oz while Nathan Clements was third with a conger eel of 16lb 11. A 3lb 2 ½ mullet for Graham Snow and a flounder of 1lb 8 ¾oz for Andrew Atkinson filled fourth and fifth, with Graham taking sixth with another mullet of 2lb 13 ½oz. In the juniors, Jack Pike took first with a flounder of 15 1/2oz while Chelsea Babb was second with another of 13 1/2oz. Bideford Angling Club hosts its presentation night on Friday at the clubhouse in Honestone Street from 8pm. It will see the awarding of some 90 cups and trophies in all, covering shore fishing, boat, game and coarse matches and specimens weighed in over the previous year. Sunday, November 15, is the annual Cyril Petherick open flounder competition, with limits from Half Penny Bridge at Weare Giffard to the lifeboat slipway at Appledore. Competitors can enter at the Bideford clubhouse from 9.30am, for a 10.30 start. The weigh-in is at 6.30pm, with a £150 prize fund. I had my second crack at the wily founder on Saturday afternoon at a mark near Barnstaple and although not huge, numerous fish provided me with plenty of fun, making a tally of 17 in a four-hour session.
