WITH their squad returning to full strength, Carol Anne Diamonds took on and defeated the previously unbeaten Sub-Regional Netball League leaders Aquarians.The 43-37 result moves the Diamonds up into third place - and next week they meet second-placed Bournemouth!Diamonds never looked back after taking the first quarter 14-6 and with high shooting successes for Sue Wheaton and Angela Gaskin. Their centre court players worked tirelessly and defenders Pru Worthington and Rhian Lovett hassled the Aquarian shooters throughout and turned the ball over on many occasions. * * *NORTH Devon's Titans also started the New Year on a high by sinking the Royal Navy in Plymouth 54 - 42. Louise Lathwell started the first quarter on fine long-range shooting form, with 17 goals from 18 attempts, to earn the player-of-the-match award.Captain Claire Turner brought a calming influence at wing attack to find Stacey Conibear and Louise Lathwell in the shooting circle, while Sharon Curtis linked-up play in the centre court and pulled off key interceptions, along with Michelle Lake and Louise Moir in the defending circle.Titans now take on St Austell this Saturday at Chulmleigh Sports Hall, 12.30pm. * * * THERE were convincing wins for Carol Anne Diamonds, Venners Bakery Vipers and Carol Anne Sapphires in the top division of the North Devon Netball League.Sharon Curtis led All Whites to another victory in Division 2 while Artavia came from seven goals down and scored on the whistle to snatch victory from Edgehill Vipers in Division 3.Edgehill Pythons had an equally tough battle against club-mates Misfits, but managed to maintain their slight advantage through to the end.
