South Molton left themselves too much to do at Torquay in the Cornwall and Devon League, where they lost 35-18.

The home side led 16-5 at the break and two second-half tries were not enough to get South Molton anything out of the game.

The visitors’ three touchdowns went to pack members Richard Clarke, Ross Crang and Dan Smith. Full-back James Campbell landed a penalty.

South Molton have no first team game this Saturday.

Torrington returned to winning ways in Devon One with a hard-earned 28-12 win over Tamar Saracens.

Victory lifts Torrie from third-from-bottom into fifth spot.

Tom Gooch, Blaine Quinlan and Charlie Bazell scored tries for Torrington, who had been well beaten by Old Techs the week before. Gooch added the rest of their points with the boot.

Torrie have a rematch with Techs on Saturday, this time at Donnacroft in the Devon Junior Cup quarter-finals.

Ilfracombe turned on the taps in the second half to beat Topsham II 43-5 in the Devon Merit table.

The first half was quite even, with the hosts, who had struggled to get going, edging it 12-5.

But after the break, Ilfracombe really got into top gear and ran in five more tries.

Charlie Bennett, Al Ravenscroft and Radford Chugg all scored two tries apiece for the hosts, with Dermot Dalton kicking four conversions.

Ilfracome are at home to Exeter Saracens in the last four of the Devon Junior Plate.
