TWO members of the Braunton and North Devon Scout Target Clubs have had success in national competitions. In his first competition, Dean Bale, 11, took third place in the junior 10m air pistol competition at the British Pistol Clubs' Winter shoot at Bisley. Craig Attwood put in a personal best of 575 to take first place in the air rifle Class B at the Geoff Partridge Memorial shoot held at Aldersly, Wolverhampton. He beat several members of the English Commonwealth shooting team, finishing in fourth place overall in the junior class after a countback for third place. In the aggregate Craig took a silver medal to complete his haul of medals. Craig has also been selected to join the squad for the British Schools Team to visit Denmark in the summer. He was a member of the winning British Schools team at Bisley last August. In the Devon Winter Rifle League the Braunton Rifle team continue their unbeaten run with a victory in round 11 over Budleigh D in Division 4. The win keeps them two points clear of Plymouth Electric at the top.
