East-the-Water teenager’s playing partners revealed

Royal North Devon’s Jimmy Mullen has been drawn alongside America’s Josh Teater and Englishman Steve Tiley for the first and second rounds of this week’s Open Championship.

The 19 year-old tees off at 10.50am in the first round on Thursday and continues at 3.51pm on Friday.

Mullen is one of seven amateurs in the major championship field after winning a qualifying event with a birdie on the final hole in North Berwick, Scotland earlier this month, heading a field which included eight-time European Order of Merit winner and Ryder Cup legend Colin Montgomerie.

Teater is also playing in his first Open Championship after making his major bow at the US Open this year, where he was tied 56th, while Tiley returns for his fourth Open as a professional and fifth overall. His best major finish since turning pro in 2007 came in the 2010 Open at St. Andrews, where he finished in a tie for 68th.

Mullen is currently preparing for the tournament with practice rounds at the Championship course at Muirfield.
