Steve Found won Bideford Angling Club's sea roving competition at the weekend with a fine specimen thick-lipped mullet of 5lb 12 ½ ounces.

Graham Snow was second with another good thick-lip of 4lb 7 ½ while Richard Boon took third with an 8lb 9 smoothound.

Steve also weighed in a 5lb 13 ¼ bass for fourth, with wrasse of 4lb 2 ½ for Martin Short and 4lb ¼ for Martyn John to make up fifth and sixth.

Taz Wotton won Bideford's shore section championship this season with 66 points, narrowly beating second placed Martyn John by just two points.

It all went down to the last comp of a season that has seen them both as the most consistent anglers by far.

The new season begins in September with competitions on the first Sunday each month.

The competition runs from Friday night until Sunday and has a prize fund of £500.

At Stafford Moor, Ben Hagg won the fishery's first ever Fisho Festival on Tanners lake with a bag of 156lb 15 ounces.

Dean Willoughby also had a good carp of 28lb 1oz from the dam wall at Beatties.
