It is the first time since the opening day in Devon One that Oaks have tasted league defeat. The fact that Oaks failed to score a point wasnt for the want of trying, thats for sure. The visitors spent most of the first half camped inside South Moltons 22. Oaks threw everything at their hosts, but the South Molton defence stood firm and at the end of the half, when you might have expected them to tire, they went up the other end of the pitch and sneaked a try through full-back Mark Drayton. Playing down the slope in the second half all the momentum was with the home side and they doubled their advantage with Draytons second try, again in the corner, after good work from the forwards. South Moltons pack were in dominant mood, demonstrated by No.8 Dan Smiths try from a rolling maul which began on Oaks 22-metre line. Smith was over again soon after for a push-over try which sealed a bonus point for the home side and put the result beyond any lingering doubt.
