South Molton coach Gary Bucknell is already looking ahead to next season and job number one is replacing himself.

Bucknell is taking the new role of director of rugby which means finding a new coach as he doesn’t fancy both jobs.

“With one team or another I have been coaching for the last six years and that is a big commitment,” said Bucknell.

“I won’t miss having to be there for training twice a week as well as matches every Saturday.

“As director of rugby I will still be heavily involved, without the huge commitment of three times a week taking its toll.

“My first job is to find a new coach - I do have someone in mind - and my next priority is to get the colts going again.

“A lot of our first team have come through the colts and for a club like ours that has to be the way ahead.

“There is a big turnover of players at 16, 17, 18 and we haven’t been able to keep the colts going this year. That needs to change.”

Bodmin led 14-7 at half time against Molton last Satuday and did enough in the second half to win 17-12.

George Jones slid over in the first half for Molton with Ben Smart converting.

Courtenay Lucas added a second, but the conversion to level the scores went astray.

Molton finish their season with a trip to Bude this Saturday afternoon.
