BARNSTAPLE Swimming Club members produced 71 finalists, recorded 73 personal best times and took 10 gold, seven silver and eight bronze medals at the Exeter Open Long Course Meet at Millfield School.Their fine performances were ideal preparation for the forthcoming Devon championships.Lily Nichols and Ryan Bennett headed gold medals list with three apiece. Lily won the 13yrs 100m backstroke, 200m backstroke and 200m individual medley events while Ryan won the 50m.100m and 200m butterfly events in his 13yrs age group. Emily Hutchens followed closely with golds in the 14yrs 50m and 100m breastroke, plus a silver in the 200m individual medley.The other gold medals were won by Abi Jeffery in the 15yrs 100m backstroke and Eva Murphy in the 15yrs 200m butterfly.
