North Devonian pounds the streets of the capital for charity....

Dozens of North Devonians joined some 38,000 runners on the streets of the capital for the Virgin Money London Marathon on Sunday.

Among them were 14 North Devon Road Runners, who recorded some good times as well as raising thousands for local charities.

Phillip Thorne was the fastest club member to cross the line, in 3:02:20, while Sarah Francis, aged 43, was the club’s fastest woman, at 3:29:35.

Sarah was in her seventh marathon and has so far raised £500 for the hospital charity. Fellow hospital charity fundraiser Sophie Pearce finished in 4:21:00 in her first marathon and with £1,050 for the charity.

Jo and Frank Biederman crossed the line hand in hand to a time of 4:09:57 and raised £4,000 for Children’s Hospice South West.

Silvia Panella Peral completed her first marathon in 4:22:53 and raised £1,500 for CHSW, while Stewart Talbert finished in 4:03:31 to raise £1,700 for North Devon Hospice.
