Charity match in aid of Help for Heroes to take place in Bideford on Sunday
BIDEFORD’S Victoria Park will be the “battlefield” for a football match being played in aid of a soldiers’ charity on Sunday.
A squad of 16 16-year-olds will take on the might of a team from the local Asda supermarket in a game being played to raise money for Help for Heroes.
The fund-raiser has been organised by Bideford teenager Warren Donahue, who approached local team Anchor Chiefs for help with kits, nets, flags and first aid.
Andy Walter has agreed to referee the game and Tony Butler and Rob Clarke will run the line.
“Please come along and support the match and help raise some money for a deserving charity,” said Warren, whose Young Guns XI kick-off against Asda XI at 3pm.
