Town followed a comfortable 4-0 win over bottom club Clevedon Town at Mill Road last Tuesday with a fine 2-0 away win at Bridport on Saturday. They went into last Tuesdays game as firm favourites, and made sure there would be no surprise result without playing their best football. Dave Pearse put Town in front before the break, giving his side a stranglehold on the game which Clevedon rarely looked capable of breaking. The match was put to bed by two quick goals from the prolific Ryan Turner after the restart, and a late strike from Ross Jones completed the scoring. Barnstaple looked like they might be frustrated when they travelled to Bridport on Saturday, but after huffing and puffing for almost an hour they managed to find the all-important breakthrough. The goals came from different sources this time - defender James Mayne headed the first on 54 minutes, and midfielder Lee Francis opened his account for the season with a strike five minutes from time. A trip to Hallen is next up for Barnstaple this Saturday.
