Barnstaple Town are up to fifth in the Toolstation Western League Premier Division following a routine home win over Sherborne Town on Saturday.

Barry Yeo’s side barely had to shift beyond second gear to earn the three points at Mill Road with a 2-0 victory.

Good weather meant the pitch was in great condition, and Town quickly went about creating chances.

The breakthrough came with half- an-hour on the clock, when Ryan Turner continued his fine run of recent goal scoring.

They swiftly doubled the lead, too. This time, it was Dave Pearse who applied the finish to see the home side two goals up at the interval.

Barnstaple struggled to play their best football throughout the second half, but were always comfortable enough and the win never looked in doubt.

The three points lifted Town to fifth, nine points behind leaders Buckland Athletic but with two games in hand.

A trip to Ivybridge Town in the FA Vase is next up on Saturday.
