T-Side beat University of Exeter on penalties in this afternoon’s (Saturday) semi-final at Bideford’s Sports Ground, with the long-anticipated clash finally going ahead, six weeks and four postponements later than originally planned.

There was nothing to separate the two sides through 90 minutes, with neither team able to break the deadlock.

It was finally broken with five minutes of extra time remaining when Marc Bettiss put Torridgeside ahead with a superb finish.

But the defending champions weren’t done, and they hauled themselves level in the final minute of extra time thanks to a finish from Darren Ofoe.

When the inevitable penalty shoot-out came, Torridgeside held their nerve. Josh Phillips produced two fine saves to give them a 4-2 and take them to their first ever Devon Premier Cup final.

Barry Paine’s side will meet Teignmouth in the final at Devon FA’s Coach Road headquarters in Newton Abbot on Thursday, May 3.
