There were good results for North Devon’s South West Peninsula League teams over the weekend.

Witherdige 5-0 St Blazey

Witheridge got their first win of the South West Peninsula Premier League season on Saturday.

They beat fellow strugglers St Blazey 5-0 at Edge Down Park to move off the foot of the table.

Rob Knight scored four goals in the win, including one from the spot, with Jake Rowe also netting with his head.

Withy will be looking to build on that on Saturday when they travel to Tavistock, before hosting Torpoint Athletic on Tuesday.

Torridgeside 5-2 Totnes and Dartington

In Division One East, Torridgeside’s winning run continued with a 5-2 win over Totnes and Dartington.

T-Side went 3-0 up in no time thanks to goals from Nathan Knight either side of a Marc Bettiss strike.

But a penalty let Darts back into the game, fighting back to 3-2.

Bettiss made the game safe though, completing his hat-trick with two more goals.

Manager Barry Paine said: “It’s been a great start to the season.

“For us, it’s all about getting points on the board and then we can start relaxing. I’m really chuffed.”

Torridgeside play third-placed Axminster this evening.

Sidmouth Town 3-3 Appledore

For Appledore, a goal in the sixth minute of injury time denied them a third consecutive win.

The Fishermen had gone 2-0 down, firstly to a soft penalty and then again when Appledore failed to clear their lines.

They fought back through Mark Cann and Brian Levine, who scored two goals in the space of eight minutes.

Levine got his second to put Appledore ahead, but were forced to settle for a point when Sidmouth struck an equaliser deep into stoppage time.

Manager Keith Shapland said: “The point is a point gained, and it keeps the unbeaten run going, but we’re disappointed not to have seen it out.”

Holsworthy 5-0 Plymouth Marjons

In Division One West, Holsworthy breezed past Plymouth Marjons for their fourth win of the season.

thanks to a Tudor Placinta hat-trick and a strike from Adam Smith.

A Marjons own goal completed the 5-0 victory for the Magpies, who play Elburton Villa tonight (Tuesday).
