The Bluebirds beat Teignmough 1-0 at Marlborough Park to go into the last 16 of the league cup, with a brilliant solo goal from Sam Box the difference between the two sides. Boxs second-half finish saw him dribble through the Teignmouth defence before coolly finishing the one-on-one he was left with. It was another good result for us, said manager Clem Bennellick. It was hard to break Teignmouth down as they were a physical side, they defended well and slowed the game down. Like the last few games, we just needed that bit of quality and Sam showed that in the second half. The win sets up a home tie against Premier side Elburton Villa in the third round of the competition, with the game to be played on Saturday, November 10. It will be a tough game, but they are beatable and we will back ourselves, said Bennellick. Theres some great teams left in the cup so it would be great to get through and play a Saltash or Argyle Reserves. Saturday saw Torridgeside and Holsworthy reach the end of the line in the competition. Torridgeside were on the end of a 4-0 defeat to Elmore 10 days after bringing their opponents unbeaten run to an end in the league. Jesse Howe gave the hosts the lead after three minutes, and made it 2-0 from the penalty spot just before half time after Ashton Hewitt was brought down. Jordan Bastin made it 3-0 shortly after the break, and got his second after 54 minutes to make it 4-0. Holsworthy were beaten 5-1 by Brixham in their second round tie, two weeks after they dumped the Fishermen out of the Devon Premier Cup. Joe Barker got the goal for the Magpies. Appledore were in action in the South West Peninsula League East Division on Saturday, but the Fishermen were beaten 3-0 at second-place Stoke Gabriel. The Fishermen are back at Marshford this Saturday, taking on Crediton United. Torridgeside, fourth in the East Division, travel to fifth-place St Martins. Holsworthy are at home to Wadebridge Town in the West Division.
