Torridgeside suffered their third defeat of the season in the South West Peninsula League on Saturday.They lost 2-0 to Alphington in the Division One East. A win would have moved them up to second in the table, but goals from Harry Taylor and Sam Webber put the Alphas ahead. T-Side were unable to find a way back into the game, partly thanks to some stout defending from the home side. They will be looking to get back to winning ways on Saturday when they travel to University of Exeter. A makeshift Torridgeside squad won the reverse fixture 2-1 at Donnacroft in October. Appledore made it four wins in a row on Saturday with a 3-2 win over Budleigh Salterton. The Fishermen took the lead through Sam Fishwick, but found themselves all square less than a minute later. Brian Levien put the home side back in front before half time. They had plenty of chances to go further ahead before Tom Marsh made it so. The away side got a goal back with five minutes remaining. Holsworthy didnt have a fixture in Division One West on Saturday due to county cup competitions. They will be back at Upcott Field on Saturday when they host Wendron United. The Magpies will be looking to improve on recent form that has seen them win one in their last 10 league fixtures. Witheridge play St Austell on Saturday at Edge Down Park in the Premier, after not having a game at the weekend.
