Appledore are up and running in the South West Peninsula League after getting their first win of the season on Saturday.

The Fishermen beat Honiton Town 3-1 at Marshford in the East Division clash for their first points.

Owen Cox, Ben Whitecross and Nick Glover scored the goals for Appledore, who led 2-1 at the break.

A Ben Ede penalty had pulled one back for the Hippos after a well worked move saw Whitecross rifle in from the edge of the area to double Appledore’s lead.

Ilfracombe and Torridgeside are still unbeaten in the East Division after five games following Saturday’s games.

The two teams shared the points when they met each other on Wednesday, with Torridgeside battling from 2-0 down to force a draw.

CJ Roberts and Sam Box put the Bluebirds two goals to the good at Donnacroft. Marc Bettis pulled one back for the home side before half-time.

Neil Bettiss levelled the scores six minutes into the second half.

Saturday’s matches saw Ilfracombe take three points at home to Sidmouth Town, while Torridgeside drew at home to Brixham.

Brodie Montague scored two goals for the Bluebirds, with both coming from the penalty spot. He opened the scoring after 25 minutes after Joe Seldon was fouled, and rounded off the victory in the second half after Will Berry was brought down.

Cassian Blackmore had got Ilfracombe’s second just before the break.

Torridgeside went 1-0 up against Brixham thanks to a header from Marc Bettiss 10 minutes into the second half.

The lead was short lived though, with the visitors equalising eight minutes later through Joe Molloy.

T-Side are at home against on Saturday, with Teignmouth the visitors. Meanwhile Appledore welcome Alphington to Marshford.

Ilfracombe Town are in action in the Buildbase FA Vase, with a first round qualifying match against at St Austell.

Holsworthy were without a game on Saturday in the West Division. They welcomed Ludgvan to Upcott Field on Thursday night, with the two sides playing out a 0-0 draw.

The Magpies travel to Dobwalls on Saturday.
