This week’s Carlsberg South West Peninsula League round-up

None of North Devon’s Carlsberg South West Peninsula League contingent were able to pick up a win on Saturday.

In Division One East, Torridgeside twice came from behind to draw 3-3 with second-from-bottom Liverton United at Donnacroft.

The visitors took the lead through Chris Newnhan, but a header from Jamie Bright and a finish from Neil Bettiss put T-Side ahead at half-time.

Liverton came back, with Newnhan scoring again, before Nicky Edmunds gave them the lead.

Ross Middleton ensured the hosts got a share of the points, equalising five minutes from full time.

Torridgeside manager Barry Paine said: “We’re disappointed to draw the game. We started really well, and by half-time the game should have been dead and buried.

“We missed numerous clear-cut chances which came back to bite us on the backside.

“We kept them interested and they deserved their point in the end.”

Appledore travelled to bottom-of-the-league Alphington, where the match ended 1-1.

Elliot Whitecross gave the Fishermen the lead late in the first half before Ollie Saunders levelled things up midway through the second half.

The Fishermen are at home to Teignmouth on Saturday.

Ilfracombe Town welcomed University of Exeter to Marlborough Park, where the visitors would leave 3-1 winners.

Uni did the damage in the first half, scoring all three of their goals in a six minute spell.

Arthur Amble, George O’Neill and Jamal Bartley scored for the students.

Simon Townsend grabbed a consolation goal for the Bluebirds late in the second half.

The Bluebirds will be looking to bounce back at St Martins on Saturday.

In Division One West, two penalties saw Holsworthy defeated 2-0 by Elburton Villa.

Nick Aplin converted both the spot-kicks for the visitors.

The Magpies are at home again on Saturday, with St Dennis the visitors.
