Barnstaple Town and Bideford have learned who they will face in the first games of the 2016/17 season. Fixtures for the upcoming Evo-Stik Southern League season were released this morning (Friday), with both North Devon Clubs in Division One South and West. Barnstaple Town will begin their inaugural Southern League season at home to Yate Town on August 6 before a trip to Taunton Town on August 9. Meanwhile, Bideford begin the season with a trip to Mangotsfield United, before hosting Tiverton Town on August 8. Barum and the Robins will meet each other earlier in the season than expected, playing each other for the first time on Monday August 29 at Bideford. The reverse fixture at Mill Road is scheduled for Boxing Day. Barnstaple will be looking to hit the ground running, with plenty of key fixtures in the season. Centre-back Craig Allan will face his former club Paulton Rovers on August 16, with Hereford visiting Mill Road two days before the North Devon derby. Bideford will host Wantage Town on August 13 before travelling to Bridgwater Town on August 16 and Evesham United on August 27. One of the big away days of the season will be the trip to phoenix club Hereford, who play at Edgar Street. Bideford will travel to the near 5,000 capacity stadium on November 5, while Barnstaple will play there on April 15. Both clubs first six fixtures are as follows: August 6: Barnstaple Town v Yate Town; Mangotsfield United v Bideford. August 8: Bideford v Tiverton Town. August 9: Taunton Town v Barnstaple Town. August 13: Bideford v Wantage Town; Swindon Supermarine v Barnstaple Town. August 16: Barnstaple Town v Paulton Rovers; Bridgwater Town v Bideford. August 27: Barnstaple Town v Hereford; Bridgwater Town v Bideford. August 29: Bideford v Barnstaple Town.
