Kevin Squire and Sean Downing goals earned Bideford a 2-0 win against Kettering Town on Saturday.
The Evo-Stik League Southern Premier Division match – sandwiched between FA Trophy ties – was the Robins’ fourth straight league win without defeat, and sixth in all competitions.
The promotion-chasing Poppies had a Remembrance weekend to forget on a heavy Sport Ground pitch.
Squire drew first blood in the 11th minute when he converted Nick Barker’s low cross from the left.
He could have doubled the lead a minute later, Craig Hill making light work of Squire’s tame goal-bound header.
Matt Andrews headed wide on 20 minutes and despite further chances for both sides, the score remained 1-0 at the break.
Matt Hockley fired wide after the re-start but Kettering soon began to turn the screw with possession football, Dubi Ogbonna going close but denied by keeper Kyle Moore.
But with five minutes to go, Downing scored the second when he out-fought the defender and ran on to beat Hill at close range.
On Saturday, Bideford return to FA Trophy action with a second round qualifying match at home to Brentwood Town of the Ryman Isthmian League Premier Division.
On Tuesday night, they will entertain Weymouth in the league.
