Bideford AFC got their pre-season off to a winning start with a 3-0 win at Willand Rovers last night. The Robins ran out comfortable winners over the Western League Premier outfit, giving debuts to several players in a genuine game of two halves. Bideford led 2-0 at the break thanks to two debut goals from Craig Duff, signed recently from Weymouth, but fielded a completely different 11 for the second half. Willand also made multiple changes at the break, but the pattern of play remained broadly the same and Bideford added a third through Ethan Phillips. It was a good competitive game and we played well considering weve only trained once so far, said Bideford manager Sean Joyce. We had eight or nine lads playing their first games for us and this was the first time a lot of them have played together. Bideford have lined up a busy pre-season with nine more games pencilled in for the next month. They next travel to Exmouth on Friday evening.
