POLLYFIELD moved off the bottom of the Wrey Arms North Devon Sunday League Division One table with a 5-3 win against fellow strugglers J&A.The East-the-Water side took the lead inside the first five minutes, a lead gifted to them following an early spell of uncertain defending by the Snappers.Matt Downing got Polly off the mark with a left foot in-swinger direct from the corner flag. And minutes later, Paul Hayes made the most of a defensive mix up and tucked home from close range to put his side two-up.Dean Tucker made it three on the half-hour mark before the Barnstaple side hauled themselves right back into the game with goals by Jason Hammond and Hector Christie. But a spirited fight-back was shot to pieces by Downing minutes before the half-time break. His mazy run tore through a volley of desperate J&A lunges before setting him up for the finish in front of goal. Stand-in keeper James Doble did well to get a left hand to Downing's powerful drive but could only watch the ball sneak in off his far post.In the second half, both teams failed to create little in the way of chances, Tucker putting Pollyfield 5-2 ahead before Hammond pulled a third back for J&A.In Division Two, Wrey Arms clinched promotion with an emphatic 8-1 trashing of nearest rivals Western Power Distribution. The league newcomers now need only one point from their last three games to win the title.Goals From Tarrant Wotton (four), Lee Holding (three) and Russell Shaddick helped Wrey to their best display of the season. Wotton and Sam Tabbener took the man of the match plaudits.n Results: Division One: Pollyfield 5 - 3 J&A; Police 0-1 Landkey; Taw 2 - 6 Bratton; Dynamo 6 - 3 KennysDivision Two: Yamz 6 - 2 Marlboro; Wrey A 8-1 WPD; Rose/Crown 1 - 1 Kings Armsn Fixtures: Division One: Pollyfield v Dynamo; J&A v Landkey; Police v BrattonDivision One: WPD v Kings Arms; Rebels v Yamz; Marlboro v Wrey ATHIS season's Wrey Arms Sunday League cup finals will be played at Barnstaple Town's Mill Road ground on Sunday, April 13.The double feast of football action will kick off at 1pm with the Division One final, followed by the Division Two game at 4pm.
