Corsham Town 1-0 Barnstaple Town

Barnstaple Town came away from their trip to Corsham Town after a late strike denied them a point.

In a game in which both defences kept the measure of the opposition’s attacks, Barnstaple had the better of the early exchanges and could have been in front but for a string of fine saves from the home side’s goalkeeper.

Corsham created little in the first half, but came out with a more attacking mindset in the second period and forced Barnstaple ‘keeper Ryan Draper to be at his best to keep the scores level.

It looked as though the heavy conditions would play their part in a 0-0 draw, until a last minute strike from Jason Henley flew into the back of the net to give Corsham the three points.

This was Town’s eighth defeat in ten matches, and their first since new manager Barry Yeo took charge earlier this month.

They are in action again on Tuesday night in the St Luke’s Cup, when they take on rivals Tiverton Town for a semi-final spot against Witheridge.

Barnstaple get back to league action on Saturday, when they host Keynsham Town.
