Barnstaple Town ended their run of three straight league defeats with a 2-1 win at Chippenham Park on Saturday. Town were without a number of first-teamers for the trip, including first-choice keeper Ryan Draper after his sending off at Wells and captain Aaron Harper-Penman, but found themselves in front in the first half thanks to yet another Billy Tucker goal. Lee Francis doubled Barnstaples lead to give the scoreline a more comfortable look, before Chippenham got one back to set up a nervy finish. But Town held on to record a ninth league win in 13 attempts this season. Unfortunately for them, though, they remain fifth in the Toolstation Western League First division. Barnstaple travel to Wellington in the Les Phillips Cup preliminary round on Wednesday evening, before returning to Mill Road on Saturday to host Almondsbury UWE in the league.
