A Dave Pearse hat-trick saw Barnstaple Town through to the second round of the FA Vase on Saturday.

Town came from behind to beat 10-men Horndean 3-1 at Mill Road.

The third-placed Sydenhams Wessex League Premier Division side took the lead early on but Pearse equalised, and then added a second after the visitors were reduced to 10 before the break.

Barnstaple – and Pearse (pictured above) – took full control midway through the second half when the striker completed his hat-trick.

Monday’s second round draw has paired Barnstaple with Hengrove Athletic, currently second in the Toolstation Western League Division One.

They will face Hengrove in Bristol on November 21.
